Bakarat Ancient Gallery
The Barakat Gallery is a fifth generation owned and operated
family business, founded in Jerusalem more than 125 years ago. Towards the end
of the 19th century, the family began to collect some of the sizeable items
found in the hills near their farm in Jordan. It wasn't long after that
workers, farmers, and merchants from all over the region recognized the rapidly
growing “Barakat Collection”, and had to see it for themselves. Some want to
buy, some want to sell, some want to trade, some just want to admire, but some
want to learn. The extraordinary variety of objects quickly manifests itself as
not only an extraordinary historical fact but also a worthy business venture.
And from this humble beginning the Barakat Family, for more than a century, has
dedicated itself to obtaining the finest ancient masterpieces of art from
around the world. Their curiosity, love and appreciation for ancient art and
artifacts have compelled the collection to include sacred relics of various
cultures from all over the world… from Pre-Columbian America to the Khmer
civilization of Cambodia. While there are many sellers of Ancient Art around
the world, you don't want to create a collection like this anywhere. The depth,
breadth, and quality of objects found across countless cultures is
incomparable.
The Barakat Gallery International Appendix has been located in Beverly Hills, California for over 3 decades. If that's not enough to whet your appetite, the Beverly Hills showroom also showcases a range of wearable art pieces in the form of ancient jewelry… from Intaglios of Carnelian to Gold-studded necklaces studded with Diamonds featuring portraits of Emperors and Queens from a bygone era. The Barakat collection assures not only of the timeless beauty and skillful abilities of ancient artists, but also of the virtually limitless variety of forms and subjects found throughout the world.
